The main road from Islamabad to Skardu is in great condition, there are buses run from other major cities such as Lahore, Islamabad direct to Skardu.

However keep in mind the road is zigzag and surrounded by spectacular mountain ranges. However, if you do not feel comfortable going through these kind of roads, then it’s better to take a flight. There are flights from Islamabad to Skardu, which is about 45 minuts flight and you would land in an incredible valley (Skardu).

It’s always best to plan your trip in advance and consult with local authorities or tour operators.
